Lavender and Eucalyptus essential oils

Aromatherapy, in the form of essential oils, will really add to your bath experience. Lavender and Eucalyptus Oils are two of my favorite essential oils. Must-have staples for any Bathtub Diva.

The health benefits of lavender essential oil include its ability to eliminate nervous tension, relieve pain, disinfect the scalp and skin, enhance blood circulation and treat respiratory problems. The Latin name of lavender is Lavare, which means “to wash”, due to its aroma which has a particularly clean aroma.

Some of the best health benefits of eucalyptus includes its ability to boost respiratory health, strengthen the immune system, protect skin health, ease tension and anxiety, lower blood sugar, eliminate inflammation, and fight against bacterial infection.

Be careful when adding Essential Oils! Too much can irritate your skin and cause discomfort and then your bath won’t be much fun at all.

Put a few drops in your hand and then swish your hand in the water to disperse. When you get in the tub you can add a few more drops if desired, but don’t just shake the container over the water – you can’t tell how much is coming out – shake a drop or two into your palm and then add to the water.

Wait a few minutes to see how you feel and if you can smell the oil (“aroma” therapy – get it?). Don’t be impatient! Relax! Sniff!

DON’T leave an uncapped essential oil on the side of the tub! See what transpired when I did that – click here for the story – my Eucalyptus Tub Tale.
